Welcome to West Sussex Clownfish
We are a small, hobby‑led clownfish breeding setup based in West Sussex, focused on producing healthy, captive‑bred designer clownfish for fellow marine fish keepers.
Our aim is simple: to raise strong, well‑conditioned fish in a calm, clean environment, and to pass them on to hobbyists who care about quality, welfare, and good husbandry.
All of our clownfish are tank‑bred and raised, never wild‑caught, and are fully acclimated to aquarium life before leaving us.
Designer Clownfish Bred in West Sussex
We breed a selection of Ocellaris clownfish in West Sussex, focusing on healthy, well-settled fish raised in stable systems.
Our stock typically includes Black Snowflake, Black Storm, Platinum, and Longfin varieties (including Misbar and Frostbite), alongside the familiar Common Clownfish (Nemo!).
Other designer or selectively bred morphs are produced occasionally, depending on pairings and grow-out.

Black Frostbite Clownfish (UK Tank-Bred)
Our Black Frostbite Clownfish are a snowflake-based designer Ocellaris, developed from Black Ice and Snowflake lines, exhibiting the distinctive broken and dotted barring that Frostbite varieties are known for. Patterning varies between individuals, with many developing deep black base colour and scattered white markings as they mature.
These fish are the result of our own tank-bred breeding project, raised slowly in stable systems with a strong focus on health, temperament, and long-term success in home aquariums. Some of the Black Frostbite produced here have developed particularly striking patterning, making them a standout among our designer stock.
As you’ll see throughout the site, we work with a number of rare and unusual clownfish, including varieties that are seldom seen in the UK, and in some cases may not have been previously bred domestically. Our aim is not volume, but the careful development of sustainable, captive-bred lines for dedicated hobbyists.

Platinum Clownfish – Tank-Bred Designer Ocellaris (UK)

Black Snowflake Clownfish – Tank-Bred Designer Ocellaris (UK)
Available here are tank-bred Black Snowflake Clownfish, a highly sought-after designer variant of the Common Clownfish. These fish display dramatic, irregular white patterning set against a dark base, often complemented by a subtle blue shimmer that becomes particularly noticeable under reef lighting.

Longfin Frostbite Clownfish – Rare Tank-Bred Designer Ocellaris (UK)
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a tank-bred Longfin Frostbite Clownfish, produced as part of my own selective breeding project here in West Sussex. Longfin Frostbite clownfish are exceptionally uncommon, and to my knowledge this particular expression has rarely—if ever—been bred or seen in the UK.
Combining the distinctive broken barring associated with Frostbite lines and the elegant elongated fins of longfin mutations, this variety develops into a striking designer clownfish as it matures. Patterning and contrast continue to evolve over time, with fully grown specimens becoming especially eye-catching.
These fish are captive-bred, tank-acclimated, and feeding well prior to sale. They are offered in limited numbers and are suited to hobbyists and collectors looking for something genuinely different from commonly available designer clownfish.

“My name is Carlo Hunt and my passion with marine fish started when I was 25 years old.
I started with a small marine fish tank in my front room, which then led to keeping corals and a few seahorses, and eventually progressed to breeding the Ocellaris clownfish.
Those in this hobby know it is very time-consuming, and requires a lot of dedication along with the costs involved.
One makes many mistakes and learns from them which in turn opens the door to many opportunities.
I have been successful in breeding designer clown fish for a number of years.
My biggest accomplishment to date is breeding the “Longfin Clownfish” in the UK. This has been a fantastic achievement and I am onto other breeding challenges, so watch this space for more updates.”
